CHALLENGES
Every time life throws
you a curve
step into it and knock it out of the park!
Jace Carlton
Every new
year people make resolutions
to change aspects of themselves
they believe are negative.
A majority of people revert back to how they
were before
and feel like failures.
This year I challenge you to a new
resolution.
I challenge you to just be yourself.
Aisha Elderwyn
Australian

Others wait until they have reached the top to decide.

Bless those who challenge us to grow, to
stretch, to move beyond
the knowable,
to come back home to our elemental and essential nature.
Bless those who challenge us
for they remind us of doors we have closed
and doors we have yet to open.
From the Navajo
Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition
from mediocre minds.
Albert Einstein
Challenges
are what make life interesting;
overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.
Joshua J. Marine
Our prayers are answered
not when we are given what we ask,
but when we are challenged to be what we can become.
Morris Adler
There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.
When you have exhausted all possibilities, remember this ...
you haven't!

CHAMPIONS
You don't have to win the game or the race to be a champion.
Actually, your only true competition in life is yourself.
If you strive to constantly improve,
to make each day better,
to make someone else's load a little lighter,
and make someone's day a little brighter,
then you will be living the life of a true champion.
Jace Carlton

A CHANCE OF A LIFETIME
A day dawns, quite like other days;
in it, a single hour comes,
quite like other hours;
but in that day and in that hour
the chance of
a lifetime faces us.
Maltbie Babcock

CHANGE
Each
new season grows from
the leftovers of the past.
That is the essence of change,
and change is the essence of life.

Change.
It has the power to uplift, to heal, to stimulate,
surprise, open new doors, bring fresh experience

Certainly it is worth the risk.

Be not afraid of changing slowly;

Chinese Proverb
Change the way you look at things,

Dr. Wayne Dyer
from
"The Power Of Intention"
I don't have a problem with change.
I just don't want to be there when it happens.
"Monk"
You, I, all of us, live in a world of our own making.
And every aspect of our separate worlds,

The only way you can change your world

To change one's life:

William James
If you don't change your beliefs,

CHARACTER
Character is the ability
to follow through on a commitment
after the initial enthusiasm has passed.
Anonymous
Our
busy lives force us
to focus on things we do from day to day.
But the development of character
comes only as we focus on who we really are.
To establish and accomplish those greater goals,
we do need heavenly help.
Russell
M. Nelson
You can easily judge the
character of others
by how they treat those
who can do nothing for them or to them.
Malcolm Forbes
Character is defined by what we
are willing to do
when the spotlight has been turned off,
when the applause has died down,
and no one is around to give us credit.
Anonymous
We have been measuring our fellowmen
more by balance sheets and less by moral standards.
We have developed frightening physical power
and fallen into pathetic spiritual weakness.
We have become so concerned over the growth
of our earning capacity
that we have neglected the growth of our character.
Thomas S. Monson
Knowing the right thing to do is only half the battle.
Character is defined by doing the right thing.

EACH MOMENT

all the walks I want to take, all the books I want to read,

THE VISION OF A CHILD
I love the story of the little girl
who showed her teacher a picture she painted of a tree.
The tree was purple.
The teacher said,
"Sweetheart, I've never seen a purple tree, now have I?"
"Oh?" said the little girl. "That's too bad."
Marianne Williamson

CHILDREN

Walt Disney
Pretty

Oliver Wendell Holmes
Nothing you do for children is ever wasted.
They seem not to notice us,
hovering, averting our eyes,
and they seldom offer thanks,
but what we
do for them is never wasted.
Garrison Keillor

to accept conditions as they exist,

I have come to
the frightening
conclusion
that I am the decisive element.
It is my personal approach that creates the climate.
It is my daily mood that makes the weather.
I possess tremendous power to make life miserable or joyous.
I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration,
I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal.
In all situations, it is my response that decides
whether a crisis is escalated or de-escalated,
and a person is humanized or de-humanized.
If we treat people as they are, we make them worse.
If we treat people as they ought to be,
we help them become what they are capable of becoming.

I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are,
because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star.

THE CIRCLE
OF LIFE
The seasons change and time moves on.
Lives touch and intertwine

As we were welcoming someone new
into our lives and our hearts this last weekend
we were also saying tearful goodbyes
to a loving companion who loved and protected us
for many wonderful years.
Here's to Kody
for his pure love
and the joy he brought into our lives.
As our son, Marc, said
"He may have been an outside dog

We know we'll see you

CIRCUMSTANCES
People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are.
I don't believe in circumstances.
The people who get on in this world
are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want,
and, if they can't find them,
make them.
George Bernard Shaw

CLASS
Class is an aura of confidence that is being sure without being

Class has nothing to do with money. Class never runs scared.

COMFORT
ZONE
When coasting in our comfort zone we don't grow.
We continue to do more of the same.
Maintaining a comfort zone can, paradoxically,
lead to discomfort in the long run.
If by being comfortable we avoid important life issues,
internal tension accumulates.
Eventually,
as both the internal and external pressures for change
persist,
the 'comfort zone' ceases to serve us.
Eric Allenbaugh

COMMITMENT
Who would have ever heard of Theodore Roosevelt
outside of his immediate community
if he had only half commited himself to what he had undertaken,
if he had brought only a part of himself to his task?
The great secret of his career is that he flung his whole life,
not a part of it,
with all the determination and energy and power he could muster,
into everything he undertook.
Orison Swett Marden
First say to yourself what you would be;
and then do what you
have to do.
Epictetus
Until you are committed there is hesitancy.
Whatever you do, or dream you can, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.
Begin it now!
Goethe
If you don't make a total commitment to whatever you're
doing,
then you start looking to bail out
the first time the boat starts leaking.
It's tough enough getting that boat to shore
with everybody rowing,
let alone when a guy stands up
and starts putting his life jacket on.
Lou Holtz
Standing in the middle of the road is very
dangerous;
you get

Margaret

YOU
ARE COMPLETE
Close
your eyes
and imagine
that everything you have and everything you
are is enough.
You don't need to be better or different --
you're great
just as you are.
Can you experience the peace and contentment
that
owning that perspective brings?
Moving into such total acceptance
does not mean that we stop growing.
When we can accept who we are now,
we open the doors to our own
inspiration to do and be even more!

CONFIDENCE

Brian Tracy

CONQUERING
DOUBT
He who has conquered doubt and fear has conquered
failure.
Doubt has killed more splendid projects,
shattered more ambitious
schemes,
strangled more effective geniuses,
neutralized
more superb efforts,
blasted more fine intellects,
thwarted more
splendid ambitions
than any other enemy of the human race.
James Allen

CONQUERING
TEMPTATIONS
Trials, temptations, disappointments --
all these are helps
instead of hindrances, if one uses them rightly.
They not only test the
fibre of a character, but strengthen it.
Every conquered temptation
represents a new fund of moral energy.
Every trial endured and
weathered in the right spirit
makes a soul nobler and stronger than it
was before.
James Buckham

CONTENTMENT
If all misfortunes were laid in one common heap,
